This series of [torii] is one of Shitamichi’s significant works, photographed the remaining Torii outsides Japan. After the previous photo album “War” has published 8 years, [torii] is the photo series which drew high attention in Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo “MOT Annual 2012/ Making Situations, Editing Landscapes” and artist earned the Noon Award (Emerging Artist) of Gwangju Biennale in 2012 by this work. The photo album includes 30 pieces unpublished photos, also recorded the field research diary, notes and documents at different places such as Taiwan.

シリーズ[torii]は、「日本の国境の外側に残された鳥居」を撮影した下道基行の代表作のひとつ。前作写真集「戦争のかたち」（リトルモア）から８年、韓国光州ビエンーレ2012での新人賞受賞や東京都現代美術館での企画展「MOTアニュアル2012/風が吹けば桶屋が儲かる」などで話題になった本シリーズが写真集になります。未発表も含む30点の写真、他にも台湾日記や取材メモなどフィールドワークの記録も掲載。シリーズの集大成。装丁は新進気鋭のデザイナー橋詰宗氏、プリンティングディレクターは熊倉桂三氏。A4変形サイズ、74ページ、価格3000円＋税。発行のミチラボラトリーは下道自らが立ち上げた出版レーベルです。徐々に取扱店も増えて行くと思われます。
